BANK HOLIDAYS IN DELHI 2024

In this article we will provide the information related to Bank Holidays in Delhi for the year 2024. In India, bank holidays are like public holidays and are declared under section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has officially released a notification outlining the list of holidays for all government offices and Bank Holidays in Delhi in 2024.

This important notification, dated 19th October 2023, carries the reference number F. 53/627/GAD/CN/2023/ 2259-2305.

In accordance with the authority vested by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and taking into consideration the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs’ Notification No. U-11030/2/73-UTL dated 28/06/1973, the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has declared the specified holidays as Public Holidays in the National Capital Territory of Delhi for the year 2024 (Saka Era 1945-46).

 

 SCHEDULE OF BANK HOLIDAYS IN DELHI FOR 2024

 

  1. 26 January 2024 (Friday) – REPUBLIC DAY:

The year kicks off with the celebration of Republic Day, a significant occasion in the country.

 

  1. 25 March 2024 (Monday) – HOLI:

   The vibrant festival of colors, Holi, is observed, bringing joy and camaraderie among the people.

 

  1. 29 March 2024 (Friday) – GOOD FRIDAY:

   Good Friday, a solemn day observed by Christians, is marked as a public holiday.

 

  1. 01 April 2024 (Monday) – Annual Closing of Accounts in Banks:

   Banks will be closed for public transactions on this day, which is the annual closing of accounts.

 

  1. 11 April 2024 (Thursday) – ID-UL-FITR / RAMZAN:

 BANK HOLIDAYS IN DELHI AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

 

April 1, along with all Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays, are designated as Bank Holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

This rule applies to all commercial and cooperative banks operating across India.

If any of the holidays for the festivals of the Muslim fraternity, as listed above, do not fall on the notified date, the concerned government may alter the holiday date.

Alternatively, the community fraternity in government service may be granted special holidays on the observable date.
