BANK HOLIDAYS IN GUJARAT 2024

In this article we will provide the information related to Bank Holidays in Gujarat for the year 2024.

These holidays, observed under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, are important for banks in Gujarat and provide citizens with designated days off to celebrate festivals and national occasions.

 

The Government of Gujarat has released a notification (No.GS/27/2023/JSR/102023/930/GH) dated 20th November 2023, declaring public holidays for the year 2024.

 

 JANUARY 2024

 

  1. 26th January (Friday) – REPUBLIC DAY:

   Celebrate the essence of the nation on this public holiday.

 

 MARCH 2024

 

  1. 8th March (Friday) – MAHASHIVARATRI:

   A day dedicated to Lord Shiva, celebrated with reverence.

 

  1. 25th March (Monday) – HOLI 2ND DAY, DHULETI:

   Join the vibrant celebrations of Holi, the festival of colors.

 

  1. 29th March (Friday) – GOOD FRIDAY:

   Observe this Christian holiday with solemnity.

 

 APRIL 2024

 

  1. 1st April (Monday) – Annual Closing of Banks:

   This holiday is specific to banks, Pay and accounts Offices, and Treasury/Sub-Treasury offices in Gujarat.

 

  1. 11th April (Thursday) – ID-UL –FITR/RAMZAN:

   Celebrate the end of Ramadan with this Muslim festival.

 

 JUNE 2024

 

  1. 17th June (Monday) – ID-UL-ZUHA/BAKRID:

   Commemorate the festival of sacrifice with this public holiday.

 

 AUGUST 2024

 

  1. 15th August (Thursday) – INDEPENDENCE DAY:

   Mark the day India gained freedom with this national holiday.

 

  1. 19th August (Monday) – Annual Closing of Banks:

   Similar to April 1, this holiday is applicable to banks, Pay and accounts Office, and Treasury/Sub-Treasury offices in Gujarat.

 

  1. 26th August (Monday) – RAKSHA BANDHAN:

    Celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters on this day.

 

 SEPTEMBER 2024

 

  1. 7th September (Saturday) – SAMVATSARI:

    A day of reflection and forgiveness in Jainism.

 

  1. 16th September (Monday) – EID-MILAD UNNABI:

    Commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad with this Muslim festival.

 

 OCTOBER 2024

  1. 31st October (Thursday) – SARDAR VALLBHAI PATEL BIRTHDAY/DEEPAVALI:

  1. 2nd November (Wednesday) – VIKRAM SAMVAT NEW YEAR DAY:

    Mark the beginning of the Vikram Samvat calendar.

 

 DECEMBER 2024

 

  1. 25th December (Wednesday) – CHRISTMAS:

BANK HOLIDAYS IN GUJARAT IMPORTANT NOTES

 

All Sundays and 2nd & 4th Saturdays are designated as Bank Holidays for commercial and cooperative banks operating across India.

 

April 1 is a holiday specifically for Banks, the Pay and Accounts Office, and Treasury and Sub-Treasury offices.

 

Holidays falling on Sundays, such as Makara Sankranti, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Jayanthi, Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, and Bhai Bij, are not included in the list.

 

 If any holidays for the festivals of the Muslim fraternity do not align with the notified date, the concerned government may alter the holiday date.

Alternatively, the community fraternity in Government service may be granted special holidays on the observable date.
